Ready Decks Sample Products

Frequently Asked Questions

1.    Is this a kit?

Our decks are manufactured and installed on-site.  Kits are not available.

2.    What kind of lumber do you use?

Our decks are built with ACQ pressure treated lumber (Premium grade decking).

3.    Do you cement posts in the ground?

We will set posts into concrete for a small additional fee.  But we set our posts on concrete blocks because:
  • They are just as stable and provide as much as or even better protection against settling
  • They keep the post off of the ground keeping them dry, thus increasing post longevity

4.    Do you use nails or screws?

We use nails designed exclusively for use with ACQ treated lumber. We will use screws at your request, but a small fee applies.

5.    What does the price include?

The short answer is, "A complete deck!" You get everything you need to start enjoying life outdoors. The deck price includes the handrails, one set of steps, balusters, labor, installation and tax. If you requested specific upgrades or options, those will be included in the price quote you receive.

6.    What is the difference between your Ready Decks® and your Ready Porches®?

Our Ready Porches® have a roof and our decks do not.

7.    What kind of top do you put on your porches?

Our porches are built with painted metal roofing.  We have four colors in stock to choose from:  Evergreen, White, Ash Gray and Light Stone.  Other colors are available.

8.    Do you stain decks?

Ready Decks® is pleased to offer its customers a complete line of deck-care services and products. We will apply these stains and finishes or they are available in handy, do-it-yourself kits that come complete with everything you need to finish your deck. However, we recommend waiting 4-6 weeks after installation of the deck before you stain or seal your deck, as this gives the wood time to breathe and cure.

9.    Do you guarantee your decks and for how long?

Ready Decks® carries a one-year limited warranty on workmanship only.  This Warranty covers defects and problems caused by improper installation and construction.

10.    Will I need a building permit?

Possibly, you will need to check with your local city permit office to see if a permit is required in your area.

11.    Do I need an estimate?

We have pre-designed, pre-priced decks that we can quote a price for over the phone.

  • Decks are standard sizes and we know exactly what each size deck requires such as:  Materials, labor time, overhead cost (insurance).
You need an estimate when:
  • Barriers- ex:  Tree, building, special shaped pools, lake, pond, etc.
  • Deck location is on a steep incline and may require modification to our standard building process.
  • Deck height may be excessive
If you sign the contract when someone comes out and we do build the deck, there is no charge. We charge a $50 fee for estimates if the contract is not signed.   If you have paid the $50 and decide later to get the deck, we will put the $50 toward your purchase.

12.  Do you accept Credit Cards?

We accept all Major Credit Cards including MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express.

13.     How long does it take to complete a job?

Most of our decks are complete within one day.  Larger jobs can take up to two days or longer, depending on the complexity of the deck.

We schedule jobs in the order they are received, and we pride ourselves on keeping to the schedule. Often, we work past sunset, on weekends and holidays to ensure our customers get their decks as soon as possible. Currently, new deck orders are scheduled for completion within two weeks.
